Cuộc triển lãm lưu diễn Colourful Shadows của nghệ sỹ Nendo trở về nhà, được triển lãm tại Gallery Eye of Gyre ở đường Omotesando Tokyo. Nendo’s travelling exhibition Colourful Shadows returns to its home, getting displayed at the Eye of Gyre Gallery on Tokyo’s busy Omotesando road. The project premiered at the Japan Pavilion of the 2015 EXPO Milano, in the form of a site-specific installation showcasing Nendo’s brand new tableware collections, each made in collaboration with craftsmen reviving traditional techniques.
Tính đặc biệt của cuộc biểu diễn không chỉ dặt nằm một cách đơn giản mà trong đó: như cái tiêu đề đã ngụ ý, nghệ thuật sắp đặt là sự sắp xép 1 cách nghệ thuật xen kẻ của các mảng bóng tối, đen đến 1 cái nhìn đặc biệt về các vật thể trong 1 buổi ăn tối truyền thống. Hướng sáng và tối tạo nên những góc nhìn khác nhau, di chuyển theo vị trí người xem. Phong cách nghe thụât sắp đặt của Nendo đơn giản nhưng mạnh mẽ đã được sao chép trong một khung cảnh khác, có nghĩa sự thay đổi chủ yếu phải được làm để hiệu ứng sáng tối hoạt động
The peculiarity of the demonstration did not lie simply in that: as the title implies, the installation was the artistically arranged interplay of shadows, offering a spectacular view of traditional dining objects. The directed light and shadow create different views of the display, shifting in accordance with the viewer’s position. The typically Nendo i.e. simple yet powerful installation was now replicated in a different environment, meaning that crucial changed have to be made in order to the shadow-light effect to work.
Buổi triển lãm Eye of Gyre thì quyết định có vấn đề, vì nó được thiết lập theo 1 đường với từng đoạn, trong một không gian nhỏ. Vì vậy Nendo tạo ra 1 cái bàn trình bày cặp 1 bên kéo dài, dẫn dắt người xem từ phòng này sang phòng khác. Chiếc bàn rộng 20 cm, dài 33 m và ghép đôi 2 mảnh ván dầy 2 mm tạo cái nhìn thoáng mắt. Hiệu ứng trôi nổi của bàn được giữ trên các chân đỡ với số lượng tối thiểu. Bàn chỉ tì vào 2 điểm là tường và các cột chân đỡ. Với buổi trình diễn Tokyo, Nendo đã cố gắng tái hiện bản chất gian hàng Nhật bản trong một kiểu thiết lập rất khác biệt, gây ngạc nhiên cho các fan hâm mộ với 1 hành trình cảm giác hoàn toàn mới.
The Eye of Gyre gallery is decidedly problematic, as it is constituted of a line of segmented, small spaces. Nendo therefore created a site-specific elongated display table, leading visitors across the rooms. The 20 cm width, and 33 m length is paired with 3 mm of “thickness”, resulting in an airy look. The floating effect is reinforced by the minimal number of legs holding the structure, leaning against only two points of the wall and pillar. With the Tokyo presentation, Nendo managed to recreate the essence of the Japan Pavilion in a very different setting, surprising their fans with a brand new sensory journey.
